Mitas Enduro Trail+, first 1000 kilometers

Mitas Enduro Trail+ tyres appeared officially at EICMA November 2022. Born as a result of collaboration between KTM and Mitas.

The tyres became the factory standard on KTM 890 Adventure R, later also on 2025/2026 390 Adventure R. Which is where my experience begins. With both Mitas as a brand, and the Enduro Trail+ specifically. Classified as 60 percent on-road, 40 percent offroad, Enduro Trail+ the set seem a good fit for the KTM 390 Adventure R.

There is also a Dakar version, which compared to the standard has a stronger carcass and has higher puncture resistance.

Running them in

Like many adventure tyres with stiff sidewalls the Mitas Enduro Trail+ felt a bit hard in the beginning. Even after the first 100 kilometers. Low temps surely doesn’t help either. Took a while before they were broken in, now at 1000+ kilometers I like them more and more.

I’ve had other 60/40 variants, from other manufacturers. They all have their own particular vibration characteristics. These are no exception, but the way they have improved, despite still low temps here, makes me optimistic for summer riding (Norwegian style).

On a single cylinder motorcycle vibrations comes as a mix of engine, motorcycle design and lastly, the tyres. The former single cylinder (390 Adventure) came stock with Continental TKC 70, which is a 70/30 to 60/40, all depending on who you ask.

I’d call TKC 70 a 70/30, but even if they are quieter and less vibey, the bike added quite a bit to that effect. The Enduro Trail+ front and rear on the new 390 instantly felt planted, on all sorts of pavement. Planted, compliant and stable. Run in I went more aggressively into corners. Which they handled very well, regardless of pavement surface.

Tempted to use the expression “sticks as glue”. Even on cold spring pavement. Since I picked up the motorcycle it’s been dry and cold for the most part. Of late too wet and too cold for my liking. So how they perform on the wet is too early to tell. From what I can gather and have read they tackle wet well too.

I’ll find out later this spring or during summer.

The KTM 390 Adventure R is truly adventurous.

Out and about close to the capital of the country late April. Cold!

Mitas Enduro Trail+, on gravel & dirt

The switch to Mitas Enduro Trail+ on the new KTM 390 Adventure R, from Continental TKC 70 on the older model, is a big step up on gravel and dirt. Expected no less, the tyres have much more offroad oriented patterns and blocks.

In the past two odd weeks I’ve ridden places I usually go to, when trying bikes and tyres. And it is a very different experience, with both a new, improved motorcycle, as well as new shoes. I said earlier they seem to be a good fit for the bike. Nothing I’ve experienced this far, have diminished that conviction.

Riding in the woods south of Oslo, mostly grave and dirt this far.

Gravel of all sorts, dirt, some sand, and they do the job very well. However, many have, and likely will,  change the Mitas Enduro Trail+ set for knobby tires. Which clearly suggests what kind of buyers the new 390 Adventure appeals to. I probably also will go more offroad now than earlier.

I bought the bike to have a light-weight solution for Norwegian adventure focused rides. Intend to keep them for as long as they last. And will be back reporting once I’ve been out on longer rides. They seem to be a good dual sport solution, at least for lightweight adventure motorcycles, with 21″ front and 18″ rear wheel sizes.

Update: Mitas Enduro Trail+ at 1500 kilometers

There’s really not a whole lot to add. Still very happy with them. I see many “hard core” offroaders talk about the shortcomings of these tyres. But those shortcomings depend entirely on what you are doing with the motorcycle, your aspirations, preferences, plus also comfort zone or skill set.

Mitas Enduro Trail+ is a 60/40 tyre, designed for all-round use. It would be wrong to compare them with more specialized 50/50 ones. I also believe that would significantly reduce the comfort riding this bike on transport legs, or reduce overall enjoyment when or if you are on pavement. For some of us the getting there part also matters.

I don’t plan any change before the current set are worn out. Which probably mean they will be on come the 2027 season. Time will tell.
