2015 seasonal rides pictures

The 2015 season is compiled into one gallery. 2015 was the year I returned to motorcycle riding after 32 years.

I “blame” an old friend. We had been out of touch for several decades. Then our paths crossed. He had been riding motorcycles almost all the time since the 90s. And that got me interested again. So 10 years have passed now. How many kilometers or miles I am not sure.

2015 season: two motorcycles

Late May that year I bought a 2001 Honda Deauville 650. A journalist described it in not so flattering terms, stating it was “as interesting as a glass of water”. Sounded appropriate for a bloke who had not been riding for 32 years. And had no illusions regarding skills or abilities. It turned out to be a good choice, for about 2 and a half months.

I grew out of it, quickly. The “Dullsville” is a bulletproof motorcycle, and absolutely not a stupid choice for a beginner. But there were too many shortcomings. Too heavy, underpowered, and not very good ergonomically for a 193 centimeter tall guy.

The next was a 2003 BMW R1150RT. You bet that was a big transition! You still see a lot of these machine on the road today. Some actually prefer their somewhat agricultural feel. I’ll admit there is something about them. Very different from the successor, which I bought the year after.

I didn’t go very far the first year back in the saddle. Mostly did very local rides. Tried to focus on developing skills and basically learn to ride again.
